Melodie Monrose French Model Sensation

Hailing from the country of Martinique, Mélodie Monrose has been making a name for herself in the fashion world (despite the comparisons to Naomi Campbell). Tall, svelte, and her large oval eyes have made her an instant star with fashion houses such as Dolce and Gabbana, Rag and Bone, Yves Saint Laurent, and Marc Jacobs.

2011 was an amazing year for models of color . We witnessed the meteoric rise of some new faces including Nyasha Matonhodze, Anais Mali and Jasmine Tookes. On the Spring 2012 runways, a slew of brands had a very diverse cast including Hermès , Elie Saab, Moncler Gamme Rouge, Paco Rabanne and Bottega Veneta.

Never been so Happy to meet such a  gorgeous young model. Close to my heart Melodie  is from Martinique, just like me. So you can imaging how proud is it to feature Miss Monrose as one of our inspiring women around the world.

Met Melodie at  the Paul Smith Catwalk in London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 12. After chatting about our common origins background and discovering that we may be related. It downed to me ‘ hold on a minute’ not only she has an amazing beauty but she also has an adorable personality, down to earth and very real. Seeing her walking the runway with a poising confidence and her friendliness backstage . She is indeed the full package of a model star.

Monrose began her modeling career in 2010 at the age of 18, when she was discovered by Your Angels Models, a local modeling agency in her native Martinique. Just weeks after signing with Your Angels Models  Monrose began working with Wilhelmina in New York and Silent models in Paris.Debuting during the S/S 2011 collections in New York, Monrose has since walked the runway for top designers including Michael Kors, Bottega Veneta, Lanvin, Miu Miu, and Yves Saint Laurent. After her first runway season Monrose was named a top 10 new face by Style.com,  Models.com, and COACD.  In July 2011 Monrose left Wilhelmina for Silent models, which now represents her in both New York and Paris.

Monrose has appeared in Vogue Italia, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue Turkey, Interview, Dazed and Confused, and V Magazine. She was photographed by Mario Testino for the F/W 2011 D&G ad campaign.
